Mozilla is rolling out new features to its Smart Window, an AI-powered browsing tool, that allows users to fill out online forms using data from open tabs. The update enables Firefox to pull information from sources like LinkedIn or a personal portfolio to auto-fill job applications. Users can activate the feature by clicking on a form with at least four text fields, then selecting which tabs to draw from. The browser generates suggestions based on the selected data, though it currently supports only text fields, with support for dropdowns and PDFs in the works.
In addition to form filling, Smart Window now lets users monitor specific webpages for updates such as job listings or sales. By typing '/watch' in the Smart Window chat and specifying the pages to track, users can set up daily or weekly checks. Firefox will notify users via the toolbar or desktop alerts when changes are detected. However, the feature will pause after 60 days of no updates and stop entirely after 90 days.
The new features are available in the Smart Window beta for desktop users in the US and Canada, with international rollouts planned soon. Mozilla also notes that data from source pages is shared with Google’s Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite model to generate the AI-driven suggestions. While the updates focus on improving user efficiency, they also raise questions about data privacy and the integration of third-party AI models into browser tools.
