Ørsted A/S has reached commercial operation at the 704-megawatt Revolution Wind, a joint venture with Global Infrastructure Partners. This milestone marks a significant step forward for the U.S. offshore wind sector, which faced uncertainty due to a Trump-era pause on several projects. The project, which began operations in October, is part of a broader effort to advance renewable energy infrastructure despite political challenges. The U.S. Interior Department had previously issued a 90-day pause on Revolution Wind and four other offshore wind leases, citing security concerns. However, all five projects secured court injunctions to resume operations, and at least two have now been completed, including Revolution Wind and Vineyard Wind 1. The legal battles highlight the resilience of the offshore wind industry in the face of regulatory uncertainty. In addition to the U.S. projects, Ørsted has also completed the 913-MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 in Germany, expanding its global renewable energy portfolio. The company's installed capacity reached 19.5 gigawatts at the end of Q3, with 1.8 gigawatts added during the quarter. This growth underscores Ørsted's commitment to expanding its renewable energy footprint across multiple regions.
