A significant cybersecurity incident has compromised the personal information of more than 41,000 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) employees. The breach includes names, job titles, phone numbers, email addresses, and office locations of individuals working for agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The data also reveals connections between these agencies and surveillance tools used for monitoring activities. The breach was attributed to a hacker known as 'Department of Peace,' who accessed the information through Okta, an identity management service. The hacker stated that the leak was a form of retaliation, given the DHS's efforts to conceal the identities of agents involved in immigration enforcement and online monitoring.
